Its a Glorious Day!

For the past couple of days the weather has been foul. Winds like you wouldn’t believe, enough rain to cause areas of our suburb and street block to flood (again).

Monday morning before the weather went to crap, we tumbled out of bed at around 5am, threw our clothes and winter coats on and headed off out the door in the cold (29°F/-1°C) and the dark to the beaches at Robert Moses State Park. We stopped buying takeaway coffee’s a while back when we realised how much money we were wasting on them, however in this instance we made an allowance and grabbed hot coffee and hot chocolate at the local 7/11 as a treat to keep us warm as we waited for the car heating to kick in.

You’re possibly wondering by this stage why anyone in their right mind would want to go to the beach in winter at 5am in the morning? The following photos I think will explain the magic of making such a trip and are just a small part of why I love living on Long Island!

Hey there Millie :-)I would have loved to have been able to get better closeups of the deer but our digital camera doesnt do great with close up shots. It's definitely worth the trip out there. Cherub went out there our first winter here and she was on the road and deer came right up to her and nuzzled her as she was quietly standing there :-))
